Salary: : £25,975.97 a year + LW allowance of £6,500 a year  equating to £32,475.97plus excellent benefits
Schedule: 40 hours per week- Monday- Friday

As a Safer Custody Analyst in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll play a vital role in helping keep people safe within the custodial environment. You’ll support the Safer Custody Department by analysing data, identifying trends and ensuring accurate reporting to inform decisions that reduce self‑harm and violence.

Your work will have purpose. By providing clear insight and trusted information, you’ll help create impactful solutions that support safer prisons, protect lives and contribute to a positive impact on the people and communities our work touches.

 

What you’ll do as a Safer Custody Analyst


You’ll be entrusted to:

 

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and analytical support to the Safer Custody Department.
  • Analyse and evaluate intelligence data to inform decision‑making around self‑harm, violence and related incidents.
  • Produce monthly Safer Prisons Analyst Reports covering trends such as self‑harm, violence, self‑isolation and ACCT management.
  • Monitor and report patterns and trends using local reporting systems and national databases.
  • Review safer custody information from CMS, IMS, hotline and other reporting channels, identifying key risks and recommending actions.
  • Prepare and update Safer Prisons newsletters based on data trends, hotspots and quality assurance findings.
  • Maintain accurate records by updating SPOST following incidents of self‑harm and violence.
  • Prepare documentation for weekly and monthly Safer Custody and SIM meetings, including minutes and action points.
  • Act as the single point of contact for the Prison and Probation Ombudsman, collating and providing evidence as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external agencies and stakeholders to share information effectively.
  • Maintain databases, filing systems and logs, producing reports within agreed timescales.
  • Support administrative colleagues by responding to hotline calls, emails and enquiries.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

 

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to analyse and present data clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • A calm, practical approach with the ability to make sound judgements under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, respect and inclusive behaviours.
  • Numeracy, literacy and strong attention to detail.
  • An English language qualification or equivalent.

 

Vetting and checks:


An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
