As a Contract Manager within Serco’s UK & Europe Health division, you’ll take full accountability for the delivery of Hard FM services at Wishaw Hospital, operating within a PFI contract environment. You’ll lead safety, compliance and operational excellence while driving improvements that ensure a profitable, sustainable contract and a high‑quality service for the customer.

This is a senior leadership role where your commercial awareness, operational discipline and people leadership will directly influence service outcomes, customer satisfaction and long‑term contract performance.

What you’ll do as a Contract Manager


You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Lead and take full accountability for delivering compliant, high‑quality Hard FM services at Wishaw Hospital
  • Build strong customer advocacy and trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including the Trust, SPV, contractors and Serco colleagues
  • Drive continuous improvement and transformation across services using performance data and insight
  • Ensure robust corporate governance and compliance with health, safety and legal requirements within the Serco Management System
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise and technical input across the contract and wider Serco business where required
  • Analyse service performance through KPIs and performance management systems, using insight to inform operational decisions
  • Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures across service areas
  • Manage complex operational risks and make informed, autonomous decisions to resolve issues effectively
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing, engaged contract management team
  • Contribute to wider regional and business strategy as a member of the Regional Management Team.

People leadership


You’ll also:

  • Provide visible, values‑led leadership to ensure teams understand strategy, objectives and expectations.
  • Create a culture of strong employee engagement, safety awareness and accountability.
  • Lead recruitment, training, development and performance management activity across the contract.
  • Coach and mentor managers to build capability and succession.
  • Effectively manage resourcing, absence, retention and workforce planning to meet service and financial objectives

 

Financial accountability

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering the financial objectives of the contract, including budget preparation, monitoring and control
  • Implementing robust financial controls to meet forecasts and manage risk
  • Identifying and delivering cost efficiencies across services
  • Developing direct reports to own and manage financial performance within their service areas

Does this sound like you?


You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Degree‑level education or substantial, relevant industry experience
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience influencing and developing diverse teams
  • Proven experience managing Hard FM services, ideally within a healthcare environment.Financial and P&L accountability experience
  • Strong people‑management skills, including performance, absence and change management.Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills
  • The ability to lead transformational change and resolve complex issues at a strategic level
  • Strong IT and numeracy skills to support financial and operational management



Additional information


The role is based in both office and operational hospital environments and may involve occasional exposure to unpleasant conditions. Financial, operational and people KPIs will be set and monitored as part of performance objectives.
