As a Casual Chef in our UK Resilience Academy team, you’ll help deliver a high-quality catering service for delegates, guests, colleagues and event attendees. Your work has purpose, ensuring every customer receives safe, well-prepared and enjoyable meals in a professional environment.

You’ll play an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone who visits the college. From preparing and presenting food to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, your contribution helps support learning, events and activities that have a positive impact on communities and the future.

 

What you’ll do as a Casual Chef

  • Prepare and cook food to agreed menu specifications, maintaining quality throughout preparation and service.
  • Ensure high standards of food presentation, service, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Support colleagues in managing stock control, stock rotation and portion control to minimise waste.
  • Follow health and safety, food hygiene, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and company procedures at all times
  • Cater for special dietary requirements with appropriate care and attention.
  • Assist with stock takes, equipment checks and emergency procedures when required.

  • Excellent culinary skills and a passion for delivering quality food.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
  • High standards of personal presentation and professionalism.
  • Good awareness of hospitality and catering industry standards.
  • Food Hygiene qualification and basic IT skills would be an advantage.

Vetting and checks:

 

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
