We are looking for a commercially focused Finance Business Partner to play a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making across VIVO. This is far more than a traditional finance role—you'll work alongside senior operational leaders, providing financial insight, challenge and guidance that helps shape business performance, improve profitability and support the successful delivery of our contracts.
As a trusted advisor to the business, you will develop strong relationships with Operational Directors, budget holders and senior stakeholders, ensuring finance is embedded at the heart of decision-making. You'll help leaders understand the financial impact of operational decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and provide the analysis needed to support sustainable growth and commercial success.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of management accounts, ensuring accurate monthly reporting, financial analysis and forecasting. Working closely with operational teams, you will lead annual budgeting and regular forecasting activities, providing clear financial insight that supports both short and long-term planning.
A key part of the role will involve analysing operational and commercial performance, using financial data and key performance indicators to identify trends, challenge assumptions and drive improvements. You'll work proactively with contract and commercial teams to maximise profitability, improve financial performance and minimise risk, while ensuring robust financial controls remain in place.
Working closely with commercial and Billable Works teams, you will ensure revenues, costs and work in progress are accurately reflected within the financial accounts. You'll also help drive effective billing and cash collection, identifying issues early, supporting commercial discussions and ensuring strong cash performance across the contract.
You will contribute to wider business initiatives, including bids, mobilisation activities, business cases and change programmes, providing financial modelling, analysis and commercial support where required. You'll also produce ad hoc reporting and strategic analysis to support business planning and investment decisions.
As part of the senior leadership team within your operational portfolio, you will attend leadership meetings, influence decision-making and provide constructive challenge where appropriate. You will also build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors and advisers, while ensuring financial reporting remains accurate, compliant and delivered in line with group requirements.
Continuous improvement will be an important aspect of the role, with opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve reporting, introduce greater automation and strengthen financial governance across the business. Where applicable, you will also lead, coach and develop members of the finance team, supporting their professional growth while ensuring high standards of performance.
About You
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least five years' post-qualified experience in a commercial finance or business partnering role.
You will have strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience working under IFRS, alongside the commercial awareness to translate financial information into meaningful business insight. Comfortable working with both operational and financial data, you'll be confident presenting complex information in a clear and influential way to senior stakeholders.
You'll have proven experience of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and performance analysis, with the ability to identify risks, challenge assumptions and influence positive business outcomes.
Previous business partnering experience is essential, and experience within defence, facilities management, asset management or similarly complex operational environments would be highly advantageous.
An advanced user of Microsoft Excel, you'll be comfortable analysing large datasets and producing insightful reporting. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems would be beneficial, although a willingness and ability to quickly learn new systems is equally important.
Above all, you'll be an engaging communicator with excellent relationship-building skills, capable of influencing at all levels of the organisation. You'll enjoy working collaboratively across multiple functions, balancing strategic thinking with attention to detail, and will be motivated by helping the business make better commercial decisions.
This is a flexible, hybrid role with regular travel across the UK to support operational teams and business leaders. It is ideally suited to someone based in the South East or South West who enjoys working closely with stakeholders while making a genuine impact on business performance.
