VIVO manages and maintains some of the UK's most important defence infrastructure, supporting critical environments across a diverse and geographically dispersed estate portfolio.
We're seeking an exceptional asset management leader to establish and mature a best-in-class Asset Management Strategy function, bringing proven industry expertise to shape how we manage, maintain and invest in more than 500,000 maintainable assets.
This is a rare opportunity to build capability from strategy through to execution, creating the frameworks, governance, lifecycle planning methodologies and asset intelligence that will drive investment decisions, operational performance and long-term value across a nationally significant estate portfolio.
Reporting to the Operational Excellence Director, you'll operate at the heart of strategic decision-making, helping shape the future direction of asset management across the organisation whilst supporting operational excellence, customer confidence and future growth opportunities.
The Opportunity
As Head of Asset Management Strategy, you will lead the development of a mature, data-driven asset management capability that enables better investment decisions, improves asset performance and maximises whole-life value.
You'll establish consistent standards, governance and methodologies across the organisation, creating the foundations for long-term asset management excellence whilst ensuring investment decisions are aligned to risk, compliance, operational performance and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and delivering the organisation's long-term asset management strategy.
- Establishing enterprise-wide asset management frameworks, standards and governance processes.
- Leading the development of 5, 10 and 20-year lifecycle investment plans across a complex estate portfolio.
- Creating robust asset investment and prioritisation methodologies that balance performance, compliance, risk and affordability.
- Driving improvements in asset intelligence, data quality and governance to support strategic decision-making.
- Developing asset performance analytics and insight capabilities that improve investment planning and operational outcomes.
- Leading whole-life asset optimisation strategies that maximise value and support long-term sustainability.
- Shaping the future use of digital asset management technologies, predictive analytics and data-led maintenance approaches.
- Supporting bids, mobilisations and future growth opportunities through robust asset modelling and strategic asset expertise.
- Acting as the organisation's senior subject matter expert for asset management strategy and lifecycle planning.

About You
We're looking for a strategic and commercially minded asset management professional with a proven track record of building and developing asset management capability within complex hard FM, estates, infrastructure or engineering environments.
You will bring:
- Significant experience leading asset management functions across large and complex asset portfolios.
- Proven success developing and implementing enterprise-wide asset management frameworks, operating models and governance structures.
- Deep expertise in lifecycle planning, asset investment strategy and whole-life asset optimisation.
- Strong understanding of asset governance, statutory compliance, risk management and resilience planning.
- Experience establishing asset intelligence, performance management and data-driven decision-making frameworks.
- A strong track record of improving asset management maturity and embedding best practice across organisations.
- Commercial awareness and experience influencing significant investment decisions and long-term asset strategies.
- The credibility and expertise to operate as the organisation's senior authority on asset management strategy.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear business recommendations.
Desirable
- Experience within large-scale hard FM, infrastructure, utilities, healthcare estates, transport, property or other asset-intensive environments.
- Chartered status and/or recognised Asset Management qualifications.
- Knowledge and practical application of ISO 55001 principles.
- Experience implementing asset management systems, digital asset solutions or predictive maintenance strategies.
- Experience supporting strategic bids, contract mobilisations or organisational transformation programmes.
