Join VIVO and Help Keep Defence Operations Moving
Are you a skilled Multi Trade Operative looking for a role where your work truly matters?
At VIVO, we're proud to support the UK's Defence infrastructure, ensuring military personnel can live, work, train and operate in safe, reliable environments. We are seeking a motivated and versatile Multi Trade Operative to join our established team supporting RAF Fairford and RAF Welford.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse estate where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital role in delivering repairs, maintenance, compliance activities and refurbishment projects that directly contribute to operational readiness across the Defence estate.
Whether your background is in social housing, facilities management, domestic maintenance or commercial environments, we would love to hear from you. We welcome candidates with experience across multiple trades, as well as those who have developed strong expertise within a single discipline and are keen to broaden their skills.
The Role
As a Multi Trade Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive maintenance, repairs and minor works across RAF Fairford and RAF Welford, with the majority of your time based at Fairford and travel to Welford as required. A company van and fuel card will be provided to support travel between sites.
Working as part of a close-knit team of skilled operatives, you will undertake a varied workload across both domestic and commercial buildings. Typical tasks may involve basic plumbing, electrical repairs, plastering, mechanical maintenance and general building repairs. The role requires someone who is adaptable and able to switch priorities quickly in response to changing operational requirements and emergency callouts.
All work will be scheduled and allocated digitally through a tablet or mobile device, enabling you to manage your workload efficiently while maintaining accurate records of completed tasks. Alongside maintenance responsibilities, there will be occasions where you will support general storekeeping and yard duties, helping to ensure the smooth running of the site.
This role offers a balance of independent working and teamwork. While many tasks will be completed through lone working, you'll also collaborate closely with colleagues and support the wider engineering team to deliver an exceptional service across the estate.
What you’ll need
You will have practical experience within a maintenance, facilities, construction or housing environment and be comfortable undertaking a wide variety of repair tasks.
Experience gained within domestic properties, commercial premises or both will be
considered.
While formal trade qualifications are advantageous, they are not essential. We are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong hands-on experience supported by excellent references and a proven track record of delivering quality workmanship.
You will possess a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including COSHH and RIDDOR regulations, and demonstrate a proactive approach to safe working practices. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload effectively are essential for success in this role.
To be considered, you must hold a full UK Driving Licence and be able to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
You should be reliable, punctual, self-motivated and confident communicating with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels.
Why Join VIVO?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation supporting some of the UK's most important Defence facilities. You'll enjoy varied and rewarding work, ongoing training and development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a supportive team that takes pride in delivering excellence every day.
Importantly, while this position is offered initially as a 12-month fixed-term contract, there is genuine potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
If you are a skilled tradesperson who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to play a key role in maintaining critical Defence infrastructure, we would love to hear from you.
