What we do

We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.

Location: HMS Collingwood, on site role.

Full time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £44,000 depending upon qualifications and experience

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Billable Works Manager to take ownership of delivering small-scale projects across the Defence estate. This is an exciting role where you will be directly responsible for ensuring that works valued up to 25k are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

The Role

In this role, you will oversee a wide variety of building and maintenance projects, working closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) teams, Heads of Establishment, and Mobile Authorised Persons to make sure every piece of work complies with statutory requirements, including JSP 375. From acting as Temporary Works Coordinator and CDM Principal Designer/Contractor, to providing technical guidance on asbestos, legionella, waste management and energy performance, you will be at the heart of keeping the estate safe, sustainable, and operational.

Customer focus is key. You’ll act as the single point of contact for end users, ensuring their needs are understood and met, while also drafting Statements of Need that capture requirements for sustain, maintain, and change projects. You’ll provide regular progress updates to both internal teams and external stakeholders, resolve issues and complaints quickly and effectively, and build strong relationships with site personnel so that works always support operational priorities.

Your technical knowledge will enable you to spot opportunities for energy reduction, initiate new projects, and make sound decisions that add real value. You will also ensure that all works are carried out with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental standards, while maintaining compliance in areas such as FGas management and waste disposal.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for someone with hands-on project management experience in works under 25k, ideally within a Defence or MOD environment. A working knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos legislation, sustainability, and energy performance is essential, along with an ONC/BTEC level qualification in electrical, mechanical, or building engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Training in asbestos and legionella management, first aid, and fire safety will form part of your professional toolkit, while additional qualifications such as SMSTS, CAFM knowledge, or energy reduction expertise would be highly desirable.

In return, you will join a team that values professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that make a visible difference, broaden your expertise across a wide range of technical disciplines, and play a key role in shaping a safer, more sustainable Defence estate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys managing projects from start to finish, thrives on responsibility, and takes pride in delivering results that matter.

What We Offer

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2x annual salary
