We are seeking an experienced Mobile Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership and assurance across electrical systems within a complex defence estate. This role is central to ensuring the safe management of electrical infrastructure and the effective implementation of Safe Systems of Work in line with JSP375.

As Mobile Senior Engineer, you will oversee the systems and installations for which Authorised Persons (APs) are responsible, providing technical guidance, auditing compliance and ensuring that safe operational procedures are consistently applied across sites. You will conduct site inspections and risk assessments, issue audit reports and action plans, and support the investigation of incidents or dangerous occurrences associated with permit-to-work activities.

Working closely with operational teams and client representatives, you will advise on the application of JSP375 in relation to new works, project delivery and modifications to existing installations. You will also contribute to commissioning activities for major works and provide professional technical input to project teams to ensure new infrastructure integrates safely with existing assets.

A key part of the role involves supporting and developing the Authorised Person network. You will work with Area Managers to identify suitable candidates for AP roles, coordinate training requirements and formally assess competence for appointment and reappointment in line with JSP375. This includes maintaining records of AP authorisations, auditing operational experience and ensuring teams remain up to date with safety notices and regulatory changes.

You will also play a key advisory role to senior management, highlighting any deficiencies in Safe Systems of Work that may affect the safe maintenance of the estate and providing expert technical guidance to support operational delivery and project development.

About You

You will be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and bring significant experience working within Safe Systems of Work and the operational delivery of JSP375, with a strong background in electrical infrastructure and high-voltage systems up to 33kV. You will have a solid working knowledge of electrical standards and regulations including BS 7671, ESQCR and BS EN 50522, along with an understanding of arc flash and incident energy risk.

You will be comfortable supervising technical teams, planning and coordinating site activities and making sound technical decisions in a complex operational environment. Experience interpreting protection and grading studies, reviewing substation designs or working with hazardous area standards such as BS EN 60079 would be advantageous.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as you will work closely with operational colleagues, Authorised Persons and client representatives to ensure safe and effective service delivery.

This is a mobile, multi-site role requiring a full driving licence and the ability to travel across a wide geographic area while working independently with minimal supervision.

If you are a technically credible electrical professional with strong compliance knowledge and a commitment to safety and operational excellence, this role offers the opportunity to influence standards across a major defence estate.

What We Offer:

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • Single private medical cover
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Life assurance 2 x salary
  • Rewards Hub
