Are you an experienced operational leader with a strong technical background in estates, facilities, or property maintenance? Do you thrive on balancing compliance, customer service, team leadership, and commercial performance while delivering high-quality services in a fast-moving environment?

We are looking for an exceptional Built Estate Manager to lead the delivery of maintenance, response works, and estate management services across a diverse property portfolio.

This is a highly visible and influential role where you will be responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, driving operational excellence, leading teams, managing budgets, and building trusted relationships with key stakeholders. If you are proactive, commercially minded, technically strong, and passionate about service delivery, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.

As Built Estate Manager, you will lead the delivery of all maintenance and response works, ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation, MoD requirements, and health, safety, and environmental standards.

You will oversee operational planning and performance, managing work programmes, budgets, and resources to meet changing priorities while delivering value for money. Where compliance risks arise, you will provide technical leadership to mitigate issues and chair Site Risk Meetings as required.

You will ensure all maintenance documentation is accurate, timely, and correctly recorded within asset systems, while maintaining and updating key estate planning documents such as ESTS and FASP.

Working closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives and stakeholders, you will agree priorities, coordinate delivery, and ensure works are completed to the required standards, with full and timely handover.

You will lead and develop your team, creating a high-performance culture through clear direction, coaching, and effective people management, while maintaining strong relationships with customers and resolving issues professionally.

In addition, you will drive commercial performance by managing budgets, monitoring profit and loss, controlling costs, and overseeing supply chain performance to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery.

You will also identify opportunities to improve sustainability and support carbon reduction targets, embedding innovative and efficient solutions across the estate.

About You

We are seeking a capable and confident manager with significant experience in facilities maintenance, property maintenance, estate management, or a related environment.

You will have a proven track record of managing operational delivery, leading teams to achieve KPIs, maintaining strong customer relationships, and successfully planning, directing, and controlling a wide range of activities.

You will bring experience managing site operations, setting priorities, driving proactive performance management, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

A HND-level qualification in Building/Civil Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent experience will also be considered. A management-level qualification in Health & Safety and Environment such as SMSTS is highly valued.

You will also have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Experience operating within an MoD environment would be advantageous, along with working knowledge of CDM regulations and familiarity with asbestos legislation, disability access requirements, and energy performance standards.

Membership of a relevant professional body such as the British Institute of Facilities Management or the Institute of Leadership and Management would be beneficial, as would a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.

What We Offer

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2x annual salary
  • 1x professional subscription per year
