Location: DMRC Stanford Hall - on site role

Permanent, full time

Salary: Competitive + Company Car/Car Allowance

We are seeking a Built Estate Manager to take ownership of the operational delivery, compliance and performance of maintenance and estate activities across a key defence site. This role is responsible for ensuring that all planned and reactive works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with statutory, contractual and MOD requirements.

As Built Estate Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of maintenance and Billable Works, ensuring activities are prioritised in line with business needs and operational demands. You will manage supply chain partners to ensure that appropriately qualified and experienced operatives are deployed, with the right tools, equipment and competencies to deliver works safely and effectively. Monitoring performance, quality and value for money will be central to the role, alongside leading regular performance reviews and driving continuous improvement.

You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Safe Systems of Work, particularly JSP375, including the review and production of risk assessments and method statements, and the implementation of permit-to-work processes. You will ensure full adherence to statutory requirements, including asbestos and legionella management, and maintain oversight of site risk registers, identifying and escalating defects or risks as required.

A strong focus on asset and data management is essential, with responsibility for ensuring all works are accurately recorded within CAFM systems such as Maximo, alongside maintaining high-quality documentation, reporting and audit readiness. You will contribute to assurance activities, inspections and audits, ensuring the site consistently meets internal and external compliance standards.

You will also manage project activity on site, working closely with stakeholders including the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and third-party contractors to ensure successful project delivery. In addition, you will support forward planning activities, including maintaining maintenance plans, contributing to lifecycle planning and identifying opportunities to support sustainability and carbon reduction targets.

From a commercial perspective, you will manage local budgets, monitor supply chain performance and ensure delivery aligns with financial targets and contractual obligations. You will support forecasting, reporting and risk management, ensuring value for money and efficient service delivery.

Leadership is a core element of the role. You will lead and support operational teams, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management to ensure high standards are maintained. Acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders, you will build strong working relationships with clients, end users and partners, ensuring effective communication and resolution of operational issues.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience managing estate operations, construction or property maintenance services, with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering against performance targets. You will have a solid understanding of Safe Systems of Work and experience operating in a compliance-driven environment.

You will be an effective leader and communicator, capable of managing multiple priorities, making sound decisions and driving performance across teams and supply chain partners. Excellent relationship management skills are essential, along with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Experience within a defence or secure environment, knowledge of CDM regulations and familiarity with CAFM systems such as Maximo would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and technically capable professional to take ownership of a critical site, ensuring safe, compliant and high-performing estate operations.
