Who we are

VIVO provides facilities management and accommodation maintenance for the UK military and its partners. VIVO embodies both experience and innovation.

What we do

We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. We drive forward improvements for them to ensure the service they receive, whether reactive repairs or a major project, is completed safely and on time. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.

Location: East Midlands to cover Midlands and East of England - Mobile role.

Permanent, Full Time

Salary: Up to £55,000 + Company car/Car allowance

We are looking for a highly skilled and safety-focused Gas Responsible Person to take responsibility for the safe management, operation, and maintenance of gas systems across our estate in the Midlands and East of England. This is a key role within our organisation, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and company policies while acting as the appointed competent person for gas safety.

As the designated Gas Responsible Person for a portfolio of sites, you will be at the heart of keeping our people, buildings, and operations safe. You will ensure that all activities meet the requirements of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, the Health & Safety at Work Act, and relevant British Standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing planned preventative maintenance and reactive works, ensuring risk assessments, permits-to-work, and safety documentation are in place and followed, and liaising with contractors and specialist engineers to make sure every task is carried out to the highest standard.

You will play a critical role in driving compliance and safety assurance by carrying out audits, inspections, and checks of gas installations and maintenance records, as well as maintaining accurate documentation of all servicing, testing, and remedial works. Alongside this, you will provide technical support and guidance to site teams and management, sharing your expertise to raise awareness and strengthen our culture of safety. When required, you will also take part in the organisation’s on-call rota, ensuring a rapid and competent response to issues whenever they arise, as well as supporting investigations and embedding lessons learned to prevent recurrence.

What You'll Bring

We are seeking someone with recognised gas engineering qualifications such as ACS and Gas Safe registration, backed by proven experience as a Gas Engineer, Gas Manager, or Responsible Person within facilities management, estates, or a similar environment. A strong understanding of statutory compliance and best practice in gas safety is essential, along with excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders. You will also need a full UK driving licence, as regional travel is central to the role, and you should be comfortable using IT systems to manage records and reporting.

Experience in a facilities management, healthcare, or public sector setting would be highly desirable, as would additional training in Permit-to-Work systems, safety management, or IOSH/NEBOSH certification. Most importantly, you will bring a proactive, detail-oriented approach, a commitment to compliance, and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a wider team.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact in ensuring safety and compliance across a large and diverse estate, while developing your expertise in a role that sits at the intersection of technical delivery, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. If you are a dedicated gas professional looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2x annual salary
  • Company car/Car allowance
