Location: Bassingbourn Barracks (mobile role to cover East Region)
Full time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Fire Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering vital fire safety projects across the Defence estate. This is a role where your expertise will have a direct impact on ensuring compliance, safety, and operational effectiveness for sites of national importance.
The Role
As Fire Project Manager, you will take ownership of projects valued above £25k, managing them from initial scoping through to successful handover. You will ensure that every project meets statutory legislation, MoD requirements, and the highest health, safety, and environmental standards. This will involve assessing and planning delivery, leading early warning and risk reduction meetings, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to keep projects on track.
Your role will also place you at the centre of customer engagement. You’ll work closely with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Heads of Establishments, and other stakeholders to fully understand operational requirements and ensure that fire safety projects support wider Defence priorities. As the focal point for all fire project delivery in your area, you will be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships and clear communication at all stages.
Commercial awareness will be key, as you will monitor budgets, maintain commercial control, and oversee supply chain performance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, economically, and on time. You’ll provide regular reporting on project milestones, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure projects deliver real value for money.
What You'll Bring
We’re looking for someone with significant practical experience in managing multiple projects and contractors, backed up with strong IT and administration skills. You will hold qualifications in passive fire and fire door inspection, as well as a management-level health and safety qualification such as SMSTS. Experience of supervising site operations, planning and directing teams, and managing resources to achieve results is essential. Knowledge of Maximo systems, a formal project management qualification such as APM or Prince2, and familiarity with Defence or government contracts would be an advantage.
In return, you will join a team that is committed to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’ll have the chance to further develop your expertise, build strong working relationships across the Defence estate, and take pride in delivering projects that make a real difference to safety and compliance.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Fire Project Manager who thrives on responsibility, values precision and quality, and is ready to step into a role with real influence and impact.
What We Offer
- 6% employee matched pension contribution
- 25 days annual leave
- Company car/car allowance
