Are you a passionate and motivated HR professional looking to take the next step in your career? VIVO is looking for a confident and people-focused HR Officer to support our team working on the DSTL contract across Porton Down and Portsdown West. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to grow in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, even if you don’t tick every box – what matters most is your enthusiasm, drive, and ability to learn.

The Role

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the delivery of a responsive, high-quality HR service across the contract. Working alongside line managers, the wider HR team, and our shared services, you’ll help manage everything from recruitment and onboarding to absence, capability, and performance. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring we maintain high employee engagement, strong communications, and a consistent approach to people management.

You’ll also help to shape and implement HR initiatives that align with VIVO’s wider strategic goals – whether that’s developing our talent pipeline, supporting learning and development activity, improving processes, or contributing to a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to managers, offering guidance and support on employee relations cases, change management activity, and workforce planning.

This is a varied, hands-on position that would suit someone with a background in generalist HR, ideally with experience in recruitment, employee relations, policy, and people development. But if you’re early in your HR career, eager to learn, and ready to step up into a broader role, we’re here to support your development. You’ll need strong interpersonal skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to balance detail and deadlines – along with a genuine interest in people, teams, and how HR drives success.

What You'll Bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll ideally have a CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent workplace experience, and be working towards or interested in achieving Level 5. You should be comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook), and able to analyse and present information in a clear, engaging way. Most importantly, you’ll bring positivity, resilience, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and teams.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your HR journey, gain experience in a diverse, supportive organisation, and help shape the future of a critical UK defence contract, then we’d love to hear from you. Join VIVO – where your passion for people makes a real difference.

What We Offer

  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • Company car/car allowance
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2x annual salary
