Location: DSTL, Salisbury - on site role
Permanent, Full time
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective, compliant, and timely delivery of Billable Works. This involves working within Government regulatory and statutory requirements, while consistently upholding Health & Safety and Environmental standards. You will oversee the performance of supply chain teams, ensuring that qualified and experienced operatives are deployed appropriately, with the right skills, equipment, and resources to deliver high-quality work safely and efficiently. Monitoring service delivery, reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and ensuring that all documentation is completed accurately in the CAFM system will be a central part of your role. You will also work closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives, site managers, and customer service teams to agree project scopes and priorities, balancing operational needs with available resources.
Strong commercial awareness is essential, as you will manage budgets, monitor project costs, and make sound decisions to ensure value for money. You will be expected to contribute to wider business reporting, including financial progress and milestone payments, while also supporting the management and mitigation of contract risk. Your work will include the development of work plans, forward maintenance schedules, and contributions to wider business planning documents such as IEMPS, ESTS, and ESR.
People leadership plays a vital part in this role. You will support and supervise teams, providing clear direction, assessment, and coaching to ensure work is delivered effectively and to the highest standards. You will act as a key point of contact for end users, building strong relationships with DIO personnel and other stakeholders to provide professional advice, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction. This requires excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to make timely, informed decisions.
What You'll Bring
To be successful, you will bring demonstrable experience in project management, including leading operational teams, managing costs, and achieving KPIs. You should have experience in site operations, performance management, and problem-solving within a construction, property maintenance, or engineering environment. Knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos management, energy performance, and sustainability requirements will be advantageous, particularly within an MOD context.
A relevant technical qualification, such as an HND in Building, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, is essential, along with a management-level Health & Safety qualification such as SMSTS. You will also need strong IT skills across Microsoft Office and CAFM systems, with an ability to use data effectively to monitor performance and identify improvements. Professional development will be supported, and membership of relevant professional bodies, such as APM, is desirable. Additional training in asbestos, legionella, or authorised person responsibilities would be an advantage.
This role requires someone who can lead by example, motivate teams, and maintain a high standard of delivery in a dynamic environment. You will demonstrate emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the ability to negotiate and influence effectively. Above all, you will maintain focus on delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while building strong collaborative relationships that benefit both the business and its customers.
Due to site restrictions, applicants must be over 18, be British Nationals and able to obtain and retain SC clearance.
