The Adelaide Remand Centre is a maximum-security prison facility located in Adelaide, South Australia, used to hold prisoners on remand pending trial. Located on Currie Street in the Adelaide City.

As a member of the ARC Senior Management Team (SMT), the HSEW & Training Manager is responsible for 2 key areas of service provision – Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing and Training Compliance. This will require

• Ensuring a safe healthy working environment and system and process for all personnel, visitors and contractors on site.
• Assisting injured employees in all aspects of returning, (rehabilitation) to work.
• Oversight and delivery of a training service which meets the requirements of the contractual obligations and the relevant external assessing bodies.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• Experience in an HSEW position with practical experience at implementation of HSEW functions.
• Experience working in a prison, detention centre or Youth Justice environment (desirable).
• Experience in the delivery, monitoring and assessing of training programs.
• An understanding of the Australian Quality Training Framework.
• An understanding of the relevant SA legislations, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications/Training

• Certificate IV (or higher) in Occupational Health and Safety
• Certificate IV (or higher) in Training and Assessment meeting the requirements of the partner Registered Training Organisation
• Certificate III in Correctional Practice (desirable)
• Training in Confined Space, Work Safely at Heights, Collect specimens for drug of abuse testing (desirable).
