As the Health, Safety, Environment & Wellbeing (HSEW) Manager at Acacia Prison, you’ll lead the delivery of safety, health, and environmental programs that protect more than 550 staff, 1,600 prisoners, and countless visitors. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll shape a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with ISO and regulatory standards. As an HSEW Manager in the Acacia Prison team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

Partnering with senior leaders to set and deliver the HSEW vision and strategy

Driving a proactive safety and wellbeing culture through leadership and engagement
-
Managing compliance with WHS, environmental, and accreditation standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, etc.)

Leading risk assessments, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Overseeing injury management, Return-to-Work, and psychosocial wellbeing programs

Supporting clinical safety, infection control, and sustainability initiatives across the site

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

A Diploma in Work, Health & Safety (minimum qualification)
-
In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management frameworks
-
Experience managing safety systems in complex, 24/7 operational environments

Strong skills in investigation, incident analysis, and corrective action implementation
-
Ability to engage and influence at all levels, from frontline to executive leadership
-
Experience working in correctional, institutional, or high-compliance settings
