Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Senior BI Developer (Reporting Lead) to join our MI & Analytics function on a 12-month fixed-term contract supporting the AFRS programme.

 

This is a reporting-focused leadership role, where you will provide operational oversight, technical leadership, and strategic direction for reporting across the contract. You’ll lead the design and delivery of high-quality, data-rich reporting solutions while helping to shape the future of the AFRS reporting service.

 

Working closely with Analytics leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams, you will play a key role in driving data-driven decision-making, reporting adoption, and continuous improvement.

 

As part of this you’ll:

  • Lead the design and delivery of reporting solutions across contractual, operational, strategic, and ad-hoc requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to BI developers and analysts
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to understand business needs and shape reporting strategy
  • Translate requirements into data models, dashboards, and reporting frameworks
  • Oversee development of semantic and presentation layers
  • Define and support self-service reporting capabilities
  • Drive tool selection and reporting best practices across AFRS
  • Develop functional roadmaps for reporting platforms, data structures, and services
  • Deliver intuitive, interactive dashboards using enterprise BI tools
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement through prototyping and iterative delivery
  • Coach and mentor team members to build capability and encourage adoption
  • Collaborate with third-party partners and cross-functional teams
  • Ensure high-quality documentation, data standards, and governance
  • Support performance tracking, usage analysis, and value realisation of reporting solutions
  • Contribute to BI platform strategy and evolution

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Proven experience in a Senior BI Developer or reporting lead role, with leadership or team management responsibilities
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience delivering BI/reporting solutions with demonstrable business impact
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to challenge, influence, and guide decision-making
  • Experience across corporate and operational domains (Finance, HR, Procurement, IT, etc.)
  • Broad expertise in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Domo, SQL, SSRS, Excel
  • Experience designing data models, reporting layers, and BI frameworks
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and data preparation
  • Experience working with third-party and offshore delivery teams
  • Ability to define and deliver technical and functional roadmaps
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a focus on collaboration and delivery excellence
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment
  • SC Clearance (or eligibility) – must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
