Here at Serco, we are looking for a Senior BI Developer (Data & Analytics) to join our MI & Analytics team supporting the AFRS programme.

 

This role is technically focused, with a strong emphasis on data modelling, analytics engineering, and data governance. You’ll play a key role in building and embedding a robust data management and analytics framework, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset across the organisation.

 

Working alongside Reporting leadership and wider AFRS stakeholders, you will design and implement scalable data solutions, improve data quality and governance, and help drive a data-driven culture across the programme.

 

As part of this you’ll:

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance, analytics, and management frameworks
  • Lead delivery of data analytics and modelling solutions to meet business requirements
  • Design and maintain data models, data structures, and analytics platforms
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR)
  • Work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions
  • Develop functional roadmaps covering data architecture, analytics platforms, and data management capabilities
  • Implement and enhance data management practices (data quality, metadata, master data, cataloguing)
  • Support data owners and stewards in embedding governance practices
  • Identify and resolve data risks and quality issues, working with cross-functional teams
  • Champion data literacy, governance, and best practice across AFRS
  • Deliver clear communication of complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business, IT, legal, and security teams to ensure compliant and effective data usage
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data quality, trust, and usability

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) designing and delivering data analytics and modelling solutions with business impact
  • Strong expertise in data modelling, data architecture, and analytics engineering
  • Experience with BI and analytics tools such as SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Domo, Excel
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with data management disciplines (data quality, metadata, master data management, cataloguing)
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and translate complex concepts
  • Experience working across corporate and operational domains (Finance, HR, Procurement, IT, etc.)
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex data challenges
  • Understanding of risk management and data controls
  • SC Clearance (or eligibility) – must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
