Job Introduction

For the past 30 years, we provide tailored services for various public sector bodies including European Institutions, the Belgian Defence, the European Space Agency, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Our expertise spans IT services, Facility Management, Space Research, and Operations.

 

We are looking for a motivated student to act as a bridge in building new relationships between potential customers and Serco. In this 20-hour-per-week, paid student position, the successful candidate will support initial outreach and help create new connections with organisations and stakeholders.

 

We are seeking someone with strong social skills, work ethic, an eager attitude, and a proactive, hardworking mindset who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in business development and relationship building.

Role and Responsibilities

Develop a portfolio of accounts within the European Commission and its agencies. Ensure client satisfaction and generate sustainable growth on these strategic accounts.

 

  • Support the Contract Management in ensuring client demands are captured, shaped and delivered against with high levels of satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Identify new opportunities on existing framework contracts.
  • Understand client needs, proactively identifying opportunities for value-added solutions and new business.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
  • Provide regular reports on account status, risks, and opportunities.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Management, or a related field.
  • The candidate must be an active student and remain enrolled until the end of the academic year
  • Strong understanding of how EU Institutions work and of public procurement procedures.
  • Proven experience in account management and/or sales, preferably within the international organisations or public sector environment.
  • Comfortable making cold calls and reaching out to new prospects when needed
  • Demonstrated technical experience and understanding of IT profiles, skills and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex, consultative sales cycles, ideally for IT solutions/services/consulting/EU-funded projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is an asset.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, results- and solutions-oriented mindset and strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a multicultural, international context.
  • EU citizenship is not required.
