We are hiring a Full-stack Developer for the EU Commission in Brussels, Belgium, and various locations around Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Development of front-end website.
- Development of back-end website.
- Design and development of APIs.
- Building reusable code for future use.
- Development and integration of technological components.
- Implementation of user requirements.
- Prototyping.
- Elaboration of test programs.
- Integration with other applications.
- Writing of technical documentation.
- Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system.
- Participation in meetings with the project teams.
Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
• In-depth knowledge of Java 8 and Java 11; Java 17 and above would be an advantage.
• In-depth and proven knowledge of the Spring Framework.
• Good knowledge of, and experience with, JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, jQuery, React).
• In-depth knowledge of relational DBMS.
• Good knowledge of Agile principles.
• Good knowledge of design principles such as SOLID, IDEALS and CQRS; knowledge of SAGA would be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of interoperability technologies (REST, Service-Oriented Architecture, web services, message-oriented middleware, enterprise service bus).
• Knowledge of UML, particularly use case, state transition and activity diagrams.
• Ability to write clear and structured technical documentation.
• Ability to deliver business and technical presentations.
• Ability to apply high-quality standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies used in application architecture and design.
• Proficiency in English (C1 level) is mandatory.
• Proficiency in French (B1 level) would be an advantage.
Specific Expertise
• In-depth knowledge of, and experience with, Spring and Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, MVC, Validation, testing and Spring Security.
• In-depth knowledge of, and experience with, continuous development and continuous integration techniques, including the use of source code repositories (Git, Bitbucket) and build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
• In-depth knowledge of, and experience with, Spring Boot Test, JUnit and Mockito.
• In-depth knowledge of Angular and NPM.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, WebLogic, Tomcat and/or JBoss.
• Knowledge of REST principles.
• Knowledge of SOAP and Spring Web Services.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, Oracle (version 8 and above).
• Experience working with the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo).
• Knowledge of modern security frameworks and protocols such as JWT, JWE, JWKS, OIDC and CAS would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of encryption and digital signing would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of API gateways such as WSO2, Spring Cloud Gateway or Eureka/Zuul would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker or AWS would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, MySQL (version 5 and above) would be an advantage.
• Experience with enterprise service bus technologies (e.g. Apache Camel, Apache ServiceMix, Oracle Service Bus) would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1, WAI-ARIA) would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of UX design best practices, particularly responsive and mobile-first design, would be an advantage.
