We are hiring a IT System Administrator for the European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage different IT systems on premises.
- The candidate will have to maintain server and services. Create documentation for end users on internally developed tools.
- Maintain governance documentation (PM2 methodology and ITSRM) such as Project Charters, IT Security Plans, Business Case.
- The candidate will be also requested to update and create web pages of the internal website and to integrate different web platforms.
- The candidate will be requested also to test updates and migrate local offline a Windows offline network (7 virtual server based on Hyper-V including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, VEAM backup).
- Contribute to improve OSINT-related capacity of the Unit, by identifying and/or developing specific IT tools and techniques and by performing knowledge dissemination activities

LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Linguistic skills: English and/or French is required. The above-mentioned activities are mainly conducted in English, while they may occasionally be carried out in other EU languages. Consequently, thorough drafting and oral skills in English are
- required. Knowledge of other languages is considered as an asset.
- Communication skills: Capacity to work and communicate under time constraints in a multilingual international diplomatic environment. Creativity and flexibility.
- Interpersonal skills: Teamwork and capacity to coordinate with other teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Intellectual skills: Solid analytical capability as well as excellent drafting and reporting skills. Rapid grasp of problems and capacity to identify issues and solutions.
- Computer skills: Good IT Skills and deep knowledge of Internet tools and social media platforms.
- Web languages knowledge, knowledge of docker technologies, Linux and Windows systems.
- Social media skills: Sounds knowledge of relevant social media platforms and their related APIs is a key asset.
SPECIFIC EXPERTISE
- Development of webpages using PHP, JAVA, HTML, XML languages.
- Professional experience in integrating different web platform.
- Communicating clearly and effectively.
- Delivering qualitative results in tight deadlines and under pressure.
- A PM2 certification and an experience in updating PM2 documentation will be an asset.
- The candidate should have sound judgement capabilities, accuracy, sense of initiative and ability to discern key details and subtleties. He/she should be able to carry out his/her workwithin a small multinational team, under the supervision of the Team Leader. He/she should have a general understanding of the functioning of the European Union, and especially of the European Commission.
