We are hiring a Support to Surveillance Mode S Anomaly Investigation for Eurocontrol in Brussels, Belgium and various locations around Europe.

Key Responsibilities

A large part of civil aviation surveillance is based on two technologies: Mode S surveillance, which relies on a ground segment (Mode S radar) and airborne equipment (Mode S transponder), and Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B). 

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Perform Mode S data extraction, preparation and analysis.
  • Conduct Mode S investigations.
  • Improve the Mode S anomaly process flow and ensure harmonisation with the ADS-B process flow.
  • Provide back-up support for ADS-B activities.

Skills

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical field; specialisation in aviation systems would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and French (minimum level: English B2 and French C1, or English C1 and French A1), with the ability to draft high-quality technical papers, reports, presentations and meeting minutes in English
  • Specialisation in aviation surveillance systems, or a clear interest in developing such a specialisation through this role.
  • Experience in aviation systems development, aviation surveillance systems development, or aviation system technical investigation would be an advantage.
  • Ability to extract, prepare and analyse multiple types of data using BI tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau or Power BI).
  • Experience with Python (or equivalent programming language), including the ability to develop scripts and write simple SQL queries.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills, with the ability to draft high-quality technical papers, reports, presentations and meeting minutes.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient use of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), as well as the ability to use databases and perform data analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team, demonstrating strong teamwork skills, a positive and open-minded attitude, and a hands-on approach with a clear commitment to delivering results.
