We are currently seeking a Weather and EAD Data Expert to join our team supporting the EuroControl in Brussels, Brussels, as well as in other locations across Europe. 

Background

In support of NMOC (Network Manager Operations Centre) Capacity and Weather Based Operations initiative, processing and analysis of forecast and observation weather data as well as EAD (European Aeronautical Database?) service monitoring, quality system and reporting, there is a requirement for a contract to ensure continuity of services: Data architecture (coding skills in SQL and python, experience with Azure and Cloudera, reporting and visualisation skills in Power BI).
The following tasks and responsibilities are expected to be fulfilled by the operational expert:

  • Processing and visualisation of weather forecast and observation data
  • Support to NMOC weather desk with tools and reports that combine ATFM and weather data.
  • Processing and visualisation of EAD data
  • Support to EAD operations with tools and reports that will allow data quality assessment, client management and meet the quarterly external reporting obligations
  • Meeting material support to NMOC
  • Subject matter expertise for reporting and operational improvement proposals
  • Data analysis expertise

Education Requirement

Mandatory:
University and master’s degree or equivalent in Air Traffic Management, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Aerodynamics or a relevant field (which qualifies for programming, data analysis and visualisation).

Language requirement

Mandatory:
The candidate shall demonstrate a thorough command of oral and written English. This shall be further assessed in the interview process should the Offer be compliant following the initial technical evaluation and shall be supported by English language certification, relevant education or experience equivalent.

Technical/Professional qualification

Mandatory:

  • The candidate shall demonstrate minimum of 18 months of experience in an air traffic control or support to operations environment. This shall be supported by describing the relevant professional activities in the curriculum vitae.
  • The candidate shall demonstrate hands on experience with forecast and observation weather data for aviation use. This shall be supported by describing the relevant working experience in the curriculum vitae
  • The candidate shall demonstrate the ability to draft technical documents. This shall be supported by relevant examples such as software documentation, presentations, papers, reports
  • The candidate shall demonstrate good command of SQL, Python and Power BI and hands on experience using aviation data. This shall be supported by describing the relevant professional activities in the curriculum vitae and providing data projects.

Desirable:

  • The candidate should demonstrate experience in standard Microsoft Office applications particularly in Excel and Power Point. This shall be supported by proof of well-structured reports, tables and presentations (i.e. provision of two reports and two presentations drafted in the last 1 year preceding the tender submission deadline).
