Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, plus participation in an on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 8). On-call includes a £205 standby allowance, with time-and-a-half paid for any call-out hours worked.

Here at Serco we are looking for a qualified Electrician to provide specialist electrical expertise and guidance to the operation working in our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.

The primary function of this role is to attend to works related to the role and support non-trade Maintenance Operatives to fix faults. The role requires close working relationships with the housing teams to ensure outstanding service to the users and to complete all relevant electrical works and certification. You will also have experience in Domestic Dwellings. You will be working between within the North West.

 

 What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Carrying out reactive and remedial electrical repairs in domestic properties
  • Working on power, lighting, heating, fire alarm (BS5839) and emergency lighting systems
  • Completing electrical inspection, testing and certification (EICs, Minor Works, EICRs, fire alarm and emergency lighting)
  • Supporting non-trade operatives with fault finding and technical advice
  • Using Serco systems to log, update and close jobs accurately
  • Coordinating with housing teams to gain access and complete work right first time
  • Carrying out PAT testing when required
  • Keeping tools, vehicles and equipment safe and secure
  • Removing and disposing of waste responsibly
  • Joining the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours emergency cover

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Qualified electrician with City & Guilds Level 3 (2365 / 2330 or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition (2382)
  • Inspection & Testing (2391 or 2394/2395)
  • Experience working in domestic properties
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong fault-finding skills and a practical, customer-focused approach
  • Willingness to keep learning and maintain qualifications
  • PAT testing (2377) – desirable but not essential

 

*Out of Hours Working*

In order to provide a fully compliant service, there will be a requirement to be on-call outside of normal working hours, as per an agreed roster and in accordance with local Serco processes.
