Serco have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Site Security Officer to join the team at SGS Colerne.
In this critical role, you will take responsibility for all aspects of the contract’s Security department in the absence of the Site Security Officer and provide direct supervision to a team of Security Guards, ensuring the department is meeting Serco and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining safety and security, possess excellent communication skills, and support the management of site security operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to contribute to a safe and secure environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Significantly contribute to the management of the provision of Security in accordance with the SDW contractual requirements, including providing all stakeholders with a high level of service.
- Assist in ensuring that West Security employees lifecycle is managed effectively throughout all stages of their employment including managing absence, engagement, recruitment and selection, induction, performance management and recognition.
- Ensure West Security employees are fully aware of their responsibilities and properly trained to meet the requirements of their job, including mandatory legislative and workplace training, and are properly resourced to carry out their tasks.
- Play an active part in ensuring Security guards performance reviews are conducted in accordance with the SMS.
- Ensure Security processes are adhered to provide supporting evidence to support KPI contract compliance.
- Promote business continuity and continuous improvement within the West Security Department.
- Provide Subject Matter expert advice as required to both guards and external sources.
- Ensure all staff are aware of the current security regulations and level of Security State alerts.
- Carry out Security briefs as necessary.
- Comply with all policies and processes contained within the SMS.
- Uphold the Serco values and behaviours.
- Ensure all West Security employees hold a current Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence and that welfare, first aid and training requirements are managed in accordance with the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme requirements.
- Where required act as representative on behalf of the customer at meetings and briefings.
- Ensure that any faults with the fabric of the working environment and any equipment therein are reported as they develop.
- Provide absence cover as appropriate to meet shift requirements.
- Foster a professional working relationship with the customer.
- Routinely, deputise for the Site Security Officer (West) when required.
- Any other duties as detailed by the Site Security Officer (West) & Security Manager.
What you will need:
- An understanding of SPF, GovS 007 & JSP440 documents.
- In-depth knowledge of the MOD procedures relating to document control with regards to classification, handling, sending, storage and destruction of Protectively Marked Assets.
- Conversant with relevant Security Guarding Regulations.
- Good supervisory and communication skills.
- Experience of working in a secure and/or customer focused environment
- Computer literacy, conversant with the MS Office Professional Software suite or similar integrated software packages.
- Excellent oral and writing interpersonal skills
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
- Front Line Security Guarding Licence or equivalent
