On behalf of our client EUMETSAT, we are seeking a Security Technician to provide technical support and operational assistance across computing, storage, and network environments within a critical data centre infrastructure. The role involves contributing to system monitoring, hardware maintenance, incident management, and day-to-day operational support activities while working within ITIL service management frameworks to ensure reliable and efficient service delivery.
The position is based on-site at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt and operates within a flexible hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure infrastructure security through threat monitoring and policy enforcement.
- Run predefined scripts and collect output data, including logs and reports.
- Perform patch deployment and verification activities.
- Verify whether specific data flows are allowed or blocked, without carrying out active configuration changes.
- Triage service desk tickets and report incidents where required.
- Carry out testing activities.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
Skills
- Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows system administration.
- Familiarity with endpoint hardening, as well as patch deployment and verification processes.
- Basic understanding of vulnerability management processes.
- Basic understanding of logging systems, endpoint protection solutions (anti-malware, EDR, XDR), and system account and access management.
- Basic understanding of Palo Alto and Cisco (ASA and FirePower) firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow documented procedures accurately and escalate issues when required.
- Clear and structured communication skills, particularly when triaging service desk tickets or reporting incidents.
- Experience working with the Atlassian JIRA Service Desk Tool.
