As part of our long-standing partnership with EUMETSAT we have an exciting opening for a Systems Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
We’re looking for suitably qualified Systems Engineers to provide technical leadership and coordination to provide integrated project and system management support to the relevant division within EUMETSAT’s Technical and Scientific Support Department (TSS).
The service team supports the project management team in ensuring the coordinated planning, execution and monitoring of IT, data services and ground segment system upgrade projects and related activities across the TSS divisions.
Support from the team is provided in the following areas:
- Requirements definition and management
- Design and development planning
- Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V) Management
- Configuration management
- Project management: engineering support to the full lifecycle of project delivery
- Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence: engineering support to the development of ML/AI software applications
Required Skills
- Fluent in English
- A university degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Experience in systems engineering and/or project management
- Experience in project planning, execution, monitoring, control and/or closure
- Experience in the analysis and generation of system requirements
- Experience in architectural design, development, integration, verification, validation, operations and maintenance of ground segment systems
- Capability to prepare and maintain service specifications
- Capability to prepare system and technical requirements and design documentation
- Capability to perform system-level analyses for complex satellite-based systems
- Capability to prepare project initiation documentation (e.g. project opening forms, management plans, schedules, budget and resource plans, closure documentation)
- Experience in the utilisation of project management tools and techniques
- Capability to prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Knowledge of satellite ground segment systems engineering
- Knowledge of system and software life-cycle processes and standards
- Knowledge of project management processes and standards
- Definition, management and traceability of requirements structures using dedicated tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V) of complex systems
- Experience in testing coordination, execution and verification activities
- Knowledge of computer systems, network systems and IT security
- Practical knowledge of configuration control
- Knowledge of ECSS standards
- High degree of working autonomy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working as part of a multicultural team
Advantageous Skills
- Experience writing technical requirements in accordance with ECSS standards
- Practical knowledge of project management frameworks (e.g. PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2)
- Practical knowledge of service-based approaches (e.g. ITIL)
- Practical knowledge of tool-based requirements management (e.g. IBM DOORS)
- Practical knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
- Practical knowledge in the definition and formalisation of interfaces between complex systems
- Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and supporting software frameworks
- Knowledge of data distribution and dissemination systems
- Knowledge of ground segment monitoring systems
- Knowledge of archive systems
- Experience managing a service team of comparable size in a similar operational environment
