As a Contract Manager in our Serco Rail Technical Services team, you’ll lead a talented technical group delivering essential engineering services that help keep rail networks safe, reliable, and fit for the future. Your work will have a direct and positive impact on the communities who depend on rail transport every day.
You’ll guide a team that supports critical contractual requirements, ensuring we provide trusted, high‑quality technical services that create impactful solutions. This is a role where your leadership and expertise help shape better outcomes for colleagues, customers, and the wider rail industry.
What you’ll do as a Contract Manager
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Direct work to ensure we meet all contractual arrangements.
- Create, develop, and maintain skills and capability to deliver on customer requirements.
- Lead and coordinate the activities and strategic direction of your team.
- Govern and maintain local procedures, ensuring they’re fit for purpose and adhered to.
- Manage and maintain associated facilities and equipment.
- Implement and maintain HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) arrangements.
- Drive performance management of individuals using the MyCatch‑up process.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…
- At least 5 years’ experience delivering technical projects in the engineering industry.
- Experience of engineering management and leading colleagues in a commercial environment.
- Strong capability and confidence in technical service delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work autonomously, make pragmatic decisions, and operate effectively in ambiguity.
As well as checking eligibility to work in the UK, you will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
