Salary: £ 39,783.00 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday with on-call and out-of-hours working on an agreed rota (both paid allowances)

As a Gas Engineer in our Operations team, you will play a vital role in keeping accommodations safe, warm, and compliant. Your work will directly support people and communities, ensuring properties are maintained to the highest standards and gas safety is never compromised.

Working across the Midlands and East of England, this role combines technical expertise with purpose. From installations and breakdowns to safety checks and audits, your contribution helps create secure living environments and delivers a positive impact every day. To support you in the role, Serco will provide a company van for private use, as well as the tools required to perform at your best.

What you’ll do as a Gas Engineer

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Carry out boiler servicing, installations, maintenance, fault finding and breakdown repairs in line with Gas Safe regulations
  • Complete gas safety inspections and certifications, ensuring accurate records are maintained
  • Diagnose gas system issues and carry out effective, compliant repairs
  • Provide technical advice and support to non-trade maintenance colleagues
  • Liaise with external subcontractors, auditing work quality and standards
  • Use internal systems to report faults, manage jobs, and provide feedback and cost information

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Gas Safe registration and a recognised gas industry qualification
  • Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance, Gas Utilisation, or Plumbing and Heating (gas-fired appliances), or equivalent
  • Strong diagnostic skills and a sound understanding of domestic gas safety
  • A methodical, safety-focused approach and the ability to work independently
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within the region

Vetting and checks:

This role requires BPSS clearance, which involves identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be required to ensure we can offer appropriate support for your wellbeing and performance.
