As an On-Site NDT Technician in our Serco Rail Technical Services team, you’ll help deliver high-quality Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) that keeps essential rail operations running safely and smoothly. Your work will help ensure assets are inspected, assessed, and reported to the highest standards - supporting the safety and reliability of rail networks across the UK.

This is a hands‑on role where your technical expertise will directly contribute to safer journeys and better outcomes for customers and communities. What you’ll do as an On-Site NDT Technician

You’ll be entrusted to:

• Deliver on-site NDT inspections at customer sites across the UK in accordance with approved procedures, written instructions, and relevant standards.
• Carry out relevant NDT methods within the scope of certification and authorisation, recording results and escalating reportable indications as required.
• Complete inspection, testing, and reporting documentation accurately and on time to support certification and invoicing.
• Work closely with customers and site teams to coordinate safe, compliant inspection activities and minimise operational disruption.
• Maintain, check, and care for NDT equipment, reporting any defects, calibration issues, or corrective actions as required.
• Uphold high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism at all times.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…

• PCN level 2 qualifications in one or more relevant NDT methods.
• Up to five years’ experience as an NDT practitioner in an on-site inspection support role.
• Experience delivering on-site NDT within the rail industry or another safety-critical environment (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of NDT procedures, quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and inspection practices.
• Good organisational skills, accuracy, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a wider team.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel and work on customer sites.

As well as checking eligibility to work in the UK, you will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
