As an Admin Support Officer in our Offender Management Unit team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of offender management processes, ensuring accurate records and effective communication that helps protect communities and support rehabilitation.
In this role, your work will have real purpose — contributing to safer environments and supporting positive outcomes for individuals and society. What you’ll do as an Admin Support Officer
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Update prison systems including NOMIS, DPS, and local databases following prisoner admissions
- Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to gather and share essential information
- Allocate cases to Prison Offender Managers and support workload distribution
- Prepare documentation, manage department mail, and maintain accurate filing systems
- Schedule meetings, attend where required, and produce clear, accurate minutes
- Interpret court warrants, update sentence calculations, and ensure records reflect legal outcomes

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and agencies
- Confidence using IT systems including Outlook and Excel
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous improvement
Vetting and checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
