Site Support Engineer – Radar

Schedule: Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week (2 months on, 2 months off roster)

As a Site Support Engineer in our Radar team, you’ll help maintain the TPS59 Radar system, ensuring high levels of operational availability and reliability while supporting critical defence operations. Your role will contribute directly to delivering a trusted and resilient radar capability for our customer.
Working in a unique remote environment, you'll support both technical and site operations to ensure the radar facility continues to perform effectively. From assisting with preventative and corrective maintenance to supporting wider site responsibilities, you'll play an important part in maintaining essential infrastructure and creating a positive impact through reliable service delivery.
What you’ll do as a Site Support Engineer – Radar
- Support the Site Manager and Radar Engineer to achieve 95% availability of both the primary and secondary radar systems.
- Assist with first and second-line preventative maintenance activities on the TPS59 Radar system.
- Support first, second and third-line corrective maintenance activities on the TPS59 Radar system.
- Engage professionally with the Royal Air Force (RAF) customer and their representatives.
- Provide out-of-hours call-out support when required to maintain radar availability.
- Support site operations, including control of tools, test equipment, spares inventory, lubricants and non-technical site duties.

- Able to follow processes consistently and methodically.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working at height.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience of engineering practices and possession of a full driving licence.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
