As an Electrical Engineer supporting the Australian Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV), you’ll provide specialist electrical engineering and maintenance support to help keep critical vessel systems safe, reliable and operational. 

You’ll work closely with the ASRV Technical Superintendent, Engineering Manager, vessel crew, subcontractors and customer stakeholders. Your expertise will contribute to electrical systems across propulsion, power generation, navigation, communications, control systems and other essential vessel capabilities.

As an Electrical Engineer in the ASRV team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Ensuring electrical engineering and maintenance activities meet safety, regulatory and contractual requirements
• Optimising maintenance strategies, plans, schedules and activities to improve reliability and availability
• Providing expert advice across electrical, navigation, communications, power and control systems
• Developing engineering scopes, reports, processes and procedures to support vessel operations
• Liaising with the vessel Master, Chief Engineer, crew, subcontractors and customer stakeholders
• Supporting engineering changes, procurement, audits, compliance activities and critical spares planning

You could be a great fit if you have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years’ experience, including 5 years in maritime, or an equivalent electrical engineering/trade qualification with relevant experience
• Strong experience with electrical engineering, maintenance and systems engineering
• Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Knowledge of maritime requirements, with understanding of Class, SOLAS and AMSA requirements highly regarded
• Understanding of AS 3000 Electrical Wiring and Hazardous Area standards
• A current Australian unrestricted Class C driver’s licence and the ability to obtain an MSIC

• As this role requires an Australian Defence Security Clearance, applicants must be Australian Citizens. If successful, Serco will manage and sponsor the clearance process.
