Reporting to the Chief Engineer via the First Engineer, the Electro Technical Officers supports all vessel electrical power and distribution, propulsion, control and instrumentation systems, for both operations and maintenance, while the vessel is at sea and alongside.

As an Electro Technical Officer, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Managing maintenance for electrical power, propulsion, control and instrumentation systems
  • Conducting fault diagnosis, repair and planned maintenance
  • Supporting the development and review of operational procedures
  • Assisting with stock control of electrical spares and consumables
  • Supervising shore subcontractors and managing shore power connections
  • Providing training to cadets and participating in emergency duties

  • Certified ETO under Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) III/6
  • Right to work in Australia and on an Australia flagged vessel
  • AMSA-issued Certificate of Competency or Certificate of Recognition as ETO
  • Security Awareness Training
  • Extensive experience working on commercial of naval ships
  • AMSA Certificate of medical fitness
  • Qualified electrical practitioner (Electrician) with an Australian A Grade Electrical Licence (Desired)
  • Dynamic Positioning Maintenance Training Certificate (Desired)
  • Ability to undergo an AAD Polar Medical Examination
