Junior Data Transformation Analyst
Posting Start Date: 16 Jun 2026
Location: Home Based, GB
Company: Serco Plc
Junior Data Transformation Analyst
Contract: AASC (Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract)
Fully Remote (with occasional travel)
Full Time, 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Band 6 / £30,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, to support the ambitions of the AASC Data Transformation function, we are seeking a Junior Data Transformation Analyst to help improve the visibility, quality, and control of operational data across the contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in data and transformation. You'll work alongside experienced analysts and stakeholders across the business, helping to identify data issues, investigate root causes, and support initiatives that improve systems, processes, and data quality.
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, proactive, and enjoys solving problems. You don't need to be an expert in every technical area from day one, but you should be comfortable working with data, have strong attention to detail, and enjoy understanding how people, processes, systems, and data connect together.
As part of this you’ll:
- Run regular data quality checks and reports, ensuring data issues and improvement opportunities are accurately identified and recorded.
- Maintain the Data Quality Stewardship Log, tracking issues, actions, updates, and outcomes.
- Support investigations into data quality issues by analysing datasets, validating findings, and gathering supporting evidence.
- Work with operational teams to understand processes, clarify data anomalies, and gather information needed to support investigations.
- Identify recurring issues, trends, and opportunities for process or system improvements.
- Prepare clear reports, visualisations, and summaries that communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support data quality testing activities, including preparing datasets, executing tests, and documenting outcomes.
- Assist in creating guidance materials, reporting packs, and communications that promote good data quality practices.
- Participate in meetings with operational and technical stakeholders, providing analytical support and contributing to improvement initiatives.
- Develop your technical and analytical skills through hands-on experience across data transformation, data quality, and reporting activities.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Comfortable working with data and large datasets while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas, lookups, filters, pivot tables, and basic data analysis techniques.
- Ability to investigate issues logically and work through problems in a structured manner.
- Experience producing reports, summaries, or analysis and communicating findings clearly.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Confident using technology and learning new systems, tools, and processes.
- An interest in developing skills in SQL, Power Query, Power BI, data modelling, and data transformation techniques.
- Understanding of data quality concepts, relational databases, reporting tools, or data analysis techniques would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Previous experience in an analytical, reporting, administrative, operational support, or data-focused role would be beneficial.
Personal Attributes
- Naturally curious and enjoys investigating why issues occur rather than simply identifying them.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification, and challenging assumptions when something doesn't look right.
- Able to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across different teams.
- Communicates clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Approaches problems logically and remains focused on finding practical solutions.
- Collaborative, approachable, and eager to contribute to a team focused on continuous improvement and positive change.
