We’re recruiting experienced Project Managers to own and manage the organisation and delivery of Serco’s capital project works and key client instructed projects on a national UK basis. You’ll take ownership of delivering multiple mechanical, electrical, and refurbishment projects across the UK, managing them from conception to completion. You’ll coordinate resources, manage budgets, engage stakeholders, and ensure projects meet time, cost, and quality targets—all with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate internal and external resources, work closely with establishment’s FM’s and Operational teams, Procurement and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Assisting in the development project briefs, scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical and commercial feasibility
- Engagement with manufactures and suppliers to develop specifications best suited to meet contractual and client requirements in line with industry and client specific technical standards
- Supporting the preparation of documentation for project tendering and work closely with PMO and procurement to evaluate tender returns, establish best value and supplier appointment.
- Quality assurance of project scope and specifications and ability to apply commercial acumen, estimating and QS knowledge/experience desirable
- Ensure internal and external resource availability and allocation, including professional services
- Develop and manage detailed project plans to track project progress cradle to grave
- Produce monthly CVR reports for each project. Ensure all site project forecasting is completed/updated for budgeting
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedules and costs
- Measure and manage project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Report and escalate relevant matters to senior management as required
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders including the ability to relay key information and influence informed decisions
- Perform risk management to minimise project and business risks
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
- Create and maintain comprehensive project specific files and documentation
- Financial and commercial management of projects, to include setting budgets, valuations, variations and final account activities
- Accompanying contractors and consultants on site visits
- To understand and comply with company policies and procedures
- Carry out project specific site inductions for all stakeholders, in particular supply chain partners
- To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing multiple technical projects in the built environment
- Experience of custodial environment beneficial
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Experience and detailed knowledge of project management in the built environment
- Experience of application of CDM Regulations 2015
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Project
- Technical background and experience to degree level (preferably Electrical and/or Mechanical)
- PRINCE 2 certification
- IOSH or NEBOSH
- SMSTS / CSCS skilled card holder
