We’re looking for a proven Senior Project Manager to take the reins on high-profile lifecycle and capital works across the Justice & Immigration (J&I) FM estate. You’ll partner with the Head of PMO, lead a skilled projects team, and ensure every scheme is delivered flawlessly — on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. From scoping and tendering to contractor management and final handover, you’ll be at the heart of every stage, driving quality, safety, and value.

You’ll need strong project leadership in the built environment, a recognised PM qualification, and the commercial acumen to navigate complex contracts and stakeholders. With your technical knowledge, resilience, and ability to inspire others, you’ll turn challenges into solutions and opportunities into results. In return, you’ll take on impactful projects, gain exposure to senior decision-makers, and play a pivotal role in shaping environments that matter.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies

Project Delivery & Planning

  • Define and develop project briefs, scopes, and objectives in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring operational, technical, and commercial feasibility.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and resourcing of multiple projects, coordinating internal teams, procurement, and external suppliers for seamless execution.
  • Apply robust verification techniques to manage project changes in scope, cost, and timelines.

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Prepare tender documentation, evaluate supplier proposals, and support procurement in securing best value.
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage construction contracts, with a preference for JCT/NEC forms, ensuring compliance with legal, commercial, and client requirements.
  • Undertake cost control, forecasting, and risk management across project lifecycles.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Manage relationships with clients, senior stakeholders, and third-party suppliers, presenting key information to inform decision-making.
  • Engage with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure specifications meet contractual and technical standards.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentoring to direct reports and wider team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports skills development and knowledge sharing.

Governance, Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to CDM regulations, health & safety standards, and ISO 19650 Building Information Modelling (BIM) requirements.
  • Support business compliance with internal governance and industry best practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong project management experience in the built environment with a recognised PM qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM)
  • Commercial acumen and experience managing contracts (JCT/NEC preferred)
  • Technical knowledge of building construction and engineering services
  • Proven ability to deliver projects under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
  • Good understanding of CDM regulations.
  • Eligible for MOJ/HO security clearance and key trained status.
