Here within our Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract an opportunity has arisen for a Safeguarding Manager to join our team. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.
A key member of the Management Team, this role is responsible for providing a high-quality resource of professional advice, guidance and expertise in safeguarding practice to staff working on the AASC contracts operating across both the Midlands/East of England regions. This role is also responsible for actively engaging with and developing robust and effective relationships with Local Authority and Health colleagues essential to supporting the safeguarding of vulnerable service users. You will be responsible for providing effective management of the Regional Safeguarding Officers operating across Midlands/East of England regions, and ensuring appropriate workplans and objectives are set. Additionally, the Safeguarding manager will develop and update guidance, training and other material to help staff implement safeguarding policies and procedures in their work. Address issues and problems identified by stakeholders quickly and efficiently; Briefing the Business Support Director/Head of Stakeholder Engagement to assist in formulating a solution.
What you'll need to do the job
This an opportunity for an individual with very strong capabilities and knowledge of duty of care services in England, and their associated role in providing support for vulnerable people. Such a role requires robust communication skills in managing stakeholder expectations, and advising them on the roles and responsibilities of Serco as an AASC provider. The Safeguarding Manager will also have the ability to identify and apply continuous improvement opportunities and process development.
This is a critical role that requires you to hit the ground running. To achieve this, the below are requirements for a successful candidate:
- Managing stakeholder relationships (internally and externally), alongside proven experience of making presentations to stakeholders with success in delivering messages effectively
- People management experience
- Firm grasp of the legislative framework associated with adult and child safeguarding in England
- Collaborating, influencing, persuading, negotiating and leadership skills with a high level of resilience
- Managing people and leading with strategical success - you must evidence engaging staff and improving/driving team performance
- Developing and operationally embedding processes operationally and strategically in line with organisational and legislative requirements
- Reviewing and renewing safeguarding material for the contract
Finally, flexibility and commitment are essential - you will be expected to travel within the regions and occasionally within the UK (a valid UK driver’s licence is essential). You must be prepared to travel regularly to customers and suppliers, typically within the regions.
Important Information: Security Clearance at CTC level (Counter Terrorism Check) and CRB clearance required (Serco Civil Government is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).
