HSEQ Performance & Insight Analyst
Home-based
Full Time, Permanent
Band 5 / £35,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we are looking for a curious, analytical and forward-thinking HSEQ Performance & Insight Analyst to join our Health & Safety team. This role is ideal for someone with a naturally inquisitive mindset who enjoys exploring data, spotting trends others might miss, and turning information into insight that influences real operational change.
This role goes beyond traditional reporting. You will play a key part in helping the business anticipate risks, identify emerging safety trends, and strengthen our data-driven safety culture. You will use advanced analytics, modern reporting tools, and emerging technologies such as AI-enabled analysis and automation to generate meaningful insight that supports operational decision-making and safety improvement campaigns.
If you enjoy asking “what does the data really tell us?” and using creativity, technology and analytical thinking to improve how organisations understand safety performance, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.
As part of this you’ll:
- Analyse divisional HSEQ data to identify emerging trends, risk patterns and performance themes that support proactive risk management.
- Interpret complex operational data and translate findings into clear, actionable insights that influence operational performance and safety initiatives.
- Produce and manage monthly Business Performance Reports (BPRs) using Excel and Power BI, ensuring data is accurate, validated and meaningful.
- Design and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and analytical models that provide forward-looking performance insight.
- Use advanced Excel techniques and data querying to conduct deeper analysis and uncover hidden trends.
- Explore and apply AI tools, automation and advanced analytical techniques to modernise reporting processes and enhance predictive capability.
- Develop leading indicators and predictive insight to help the organisation anticipate safety risks rather than simply report on past performance.
- Challenge existing metrics, reporting approaches and data quality to improve analytical maturity and reliability.
- Manage the Assure role account mailbox, responding to queries and administering system access in line with governance standards.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Proven experience in MI, business intelligence, or operational performance reporting
- Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Power Pivot and structured data modelling
- Strong Power BI capability, including data modelling, DAX, dashboard design and governance
- Experience analysing operational or safety/compliance data (e.g. incidents, audits, inspections, regulatory reporting)
- Ability to develop forward-looking or predictive analytics capability
- Experience using AI-enabled analytical tools or automation to improve reporting and insight generation – desirable
- Professional certifications in Power BI, data analytics or business intelligence – desirable
