Full Time, 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Band 4, £60,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)
+Impact is scaling rapidly, delivering high‑volume advisory services that help governments and organisations achieve meaningful, measurable outcomes. As we grow, we’re building a lean, ambitious team that thrives in a start‑up environment while benefiting from the backing of Serco Group.
We’re now looking for a Legal & Commercial Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to provide hands‑on legal and commercial support across bids, contracts, partnerships and strategic initiatives. This is a rare opportunity to step into a broad, high‑exposure role where you’ll work directly with senior leadership and help shape the commercial foundations of a business in growth mode.
If you’re proactive, adaptable, commercially minded and excited by the idea of rolling up your sleeves beyond a traditional legal remit, this could be the perfect next step.
As part of this you’ll:
- Act as a trusted legal and commercial advisor to +Impact leadership, providing pragmatic, commercially focused guidance.
- Support the shaping of commercial models, legal positioning and risk exposure at divisional level.
- Advise on market entry, partnerships, joint ventures, international engagements and potential acquisitions.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, from pre‑bid negotiation through in‑life management and renewal/exit.
- Work with the +Impact SMT and the Divisional Legal Director on negotiation strategy with clients, partners and subcontractors.
- Ensure all agreements align with Serco’s risk principles, profitability goals and operational deliverability.
- Provide legal and commercial input into bids, ensuring sales teams receive timely, accurate information.
- Coordinate and chase inputs across the business to meet bid timelines
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements.
- Contribute to bid strategy, including commercial black hats and assurance reviews.
- Identify legal, commercial and regulatory risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Champion governance frameworks, ensuring audit readiness and compliance with Serco standards.
- Deliver training on legal, contractual and regulatory duties across +Impact teams.
- Support opportunities to reduce contractual leakage, strengthen margins and embed outcome‑based performance clauses.
- Support renegotiation opportunities and exit strategies.
- Provide strategic input into performance deep‑dives and commercial assurance activity.
- Represent +Impact in legal and commercial forums across Serco and with external advisors and clients.
- Manage external legal counsel efficiently and in line with Serco panel protocols.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Qualified solicitor (current practising certificate) with a minimum of 2–5 years PQE.
- Early in‑house experience or exposure to complex commercial environments.
- Strong capability in contract review, negotiation support and lifecycle management.
- Ability to balance sound legal judgement with practical, delivery‑focused commercial thinking.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and operating with autonomy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, flexible mindset suited to a start‑up environment where responsibilities evolve.
- Potential for future leadership and growth into a senior advisory role.
- Some UK travel will be required to build relationships across +Impact and the wider Serco organisation.
