Here at Serco, we’re looking for a proactive and principled Business Ethics and Compliance Officer to help strengthen our culture of integrity and support the delivery of our Group ethics compliance programme.

This is an opportunity to take on a varied and influential role covering ethics case management, investigations, due diligence, assurance, reporting and colleague engagement. You will help ensure that concerns are handled appropriately, compliance systems operate effectively and our people understand the standards expected of them.

In this key role, you will build effective relationships across Serco’s divisions and provide practical support to Divisional Ethics Compliance Leads.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Monitor and undertake the initial triage of concerns raised through Serco’s Speak Up channels, ensuring cases are recorded, responded to and allocated appropriately.
  • Manage and monitor ethics case management processes, including retaliation monitoring and follow-up activity.
  • Conduct investigations into potential breaches of ethics compliance policies, standards and processes.
  • Oversee the Gifts and Hospitality Register and support the monitoring and resolution of conflicts of interest.
  • Review due diligence findings, help resolve identified risks and support assessments relating to third parties and new countries.
  • Support ethics compliance assurance reviews and monitor agreed actions through to completion.
  • Produce clear and accurate information for internal reporting, including quarterly ethics compliance reports.
  • Develop communications and engagement activity that raises awareness of ethics and compliance requirements across the organisation.
  • Support the delivery of Group-led ethics compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with Divisional Ethics Compliance Leads, providing responsive advice and practical support.

What you’ll need to do the role:

  • A strong interest in business ethics, compliance and corporate responsibility.
  • Experience of handling sensitive information with discretion, sound judgement and integrity.
  • The ability to assess complex information, identify issues and take responsibility for finding practical solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases, actions and priorities effectively.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across different teams and business areas.
  • Personal drive, adaptability and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • CCEP-I or an equivalent compliance qualification would be advantageous. If not already qualified, you will be expected to work towards certification within 18 months.

Above all, you will be a role model for organisational integrity, with a genuine commitment to ethical behaviour, public service and responsible business practices

Why Serco:

Meaningful and vital work: Your work will help protect Serco’s integrity, strengthen colleague confidence in our ethics processes and support responsible decision-making across the organisation.

You will join a supportive environment where you can work with experienced colleagues, contribute to important Group-wide initiatives and continue developing your professional expertise
