Join Serco’s Procurement team and help drive smarter sourcing 

At Serco, we deliver essential services that make a difference to people’s lives. We’re looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team, supporting Engineering and Fleet categories, where you’ll play a key role in delivering value, managing suppliers, and supporting strategic sourcing activity. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with early procurement experience who is looking to develop their career within a large, global organisation. 

  

What you’ll be doing 

As a Buyer, you’ll provide procurement and sourcing expertise, supporting both tactical and strategic projects. You will: 

  • Deliver end-to-end tactical procurement projects (typically under £250k)  

  • Support Category Managers on larger, complex sourcing activities  

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop sourcing strategies  

  • Run RFx processes including documentation, evaluation, and supplier engagement  

  • Conduct market analysis and identify new supplier opportunities  

  • Support contract negotiation and drafting, using standard templates and legal guidance  

  • Ensure compliance with preferred suppliers and procurement governance  

  • Manage supplier relationships to drive performance, value, and risk mitigation  

  • Track and report savings in line with procurement methodologies  

  • Maintain accurate procurement data and pipeline reporting  

  

What you’ll need to succeed 

We’re looking for someone proactive, organised, and eager to grow within procurement: 

  • Experience in a procurement, sourcing, or buying role (2+ years)  

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) or working towards CIPS  

  • Understanding of sourcing processes and contract lifecycle management  

  • Experience using eSourcing tools (desirable)  

  • Knowledge of contract drafting and basic understanding of contract law (desirable)  

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills  

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities  

  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
