Join Serco’s Finance Transformation and help build the engine of growth
Serco is transforming Finance to support its future growth, creating a UK-led Global Finance Services (GFS) Hub at the heart of the organisation. This hub is designed to be a true engine of growth - delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information while driving standardisation, efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.
As part of this transformation, we’re building a new generation of Finance talent and are recruiting multiple Financial Accountants to join the GFS Hub in a high-growth, development-focused role.
The role
As a Financial Accountant, you’ll support the end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) process, helping to deliver accurate and timely financial results across Serco’s UK Division. You’ll work within the GFS A2R Hub, recording financial transactions from a range of sources including automated reports, contract operational data and manual accounting adjustments.
This is an entry-level role designed for graduates or early-career accountants who are curious, proactive and excited by change. You’ll work closely with Finance Managers, Senior Financial Accountants and offshore teams, gaining exposure to different Finance processes, contracts and stakeholders - with clear opportunities to learn, grow and progress.
We are hiring Financial Accountants across the following areas:
- Procured Services
- Employee Costs
- Intercompany & Recharges
- Revenue & Billing
- Technical – Revenue Recognition (IFRS 15)
While each role has a different focus, all sit within the same Finance Hub and offer strong development pathways.
As part of this you’ll:
- Support delivery of the month-end close across allocated cost and revenue streams
- Execute standardised accounting processes accurately and on time
- Support customer and stakeholder reporting activities
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items
- Help resolve aged balance sheet items in collaboration with Finance Business partners and operational teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Work closely with Finance Managers and Finance Business Partners to ensure strong documentation, controls and consistency
What you’ll need to do the role:
We’re looking for people with the right mindset and personality, who:
- Are graduates or aspiring accountants (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent)
- Are curious, proactive and keen to learn
- Enjoy working with others and building relationships
- Are comfortable in a changing environment and open to new ideas
- Have a continuous improvement mindset and ask “how can we do this better?”
- Demonstrate integrity, diligence and a strong work ethic
Experience is helpful, but attitude and potential matter most.
Why Serco:
Serco offers the opportunity to be part of a high-profile Finance transformation from the ground up, where you can build strong core Finance skills in a supportive and well-structured environment. You’ll gain exposure across multiple Finance specialisms, developing breadth and depth of experience, while benefiting from clear development pathways and genuine progression opportunities across the wider Serco organisation.
