The Opportunity

We’re looking for a recently qualified finance professional to join our high-profile Group Reporting team within Serco Group Finance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong financial reporting and year-end experience to play a key role in the delivery of Serco’s Group reporting, Annual Report and year-end financial processes.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team of five, supporting the consolidation and reporting of the Group’s global financial performance and helping ensure the accuracy, integrity and quality of financial information across a complex international organisation.

The role offers excellent exposure to listed PLC reporting, IFRS, Annual Report preparation, technical accounting, Group consolidation and audit, alongside regular engagement with senior stakeholders and finance teams across the business.

Whether you are currently working in Group Reporting, financial reporting, audit or practice, this is an opportunity to broaden your experience and develop your career within a large, listed organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the delivery of year-end Group reporting and consolidation, ensuring accurate and timely financial information
  • Supporting the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual Group financial reporting
  • Playing a key role in the preparation and delivery of the Annual Report and Half Year Interim Statement
  • Supporting the year-end close process, including reviewing financial information from divisions and ensuring reporting deadlines are met
  • Preparing and reviewing Group reporting outputs, disclosures and supporting analysis
  • Helping ensure compliance with IFRS and Group accounting policies
  • Preparing technical accounting papers on areas including Going Concern and Viability
  • Supporting the coordination and delivery of the Group year-end audit, working closely with internal and external auditors
  • Partnering with divisional finance teams and corporate functions to provide Group reporting and accounting guidance
  • Supporting statutory reporting and subsidiary entity processes
  • Reviewing outputs from offshore finance teams and ensuring robust reporting processes and controls are maintained

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a qualified accountant with a strong interest in Group Reporting and financial reporting, who is comfortable working to tight reporting and year-end deadlines.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong experience of financial reporting, year-end processes and/or Group Reporting
  • Experience contributing to the preparation of Annual Reports, statutory accounts or other external financial reporting
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS
  • Experience gained within audit, practice or a Group Finance/Group Reporting environment
  • Experience of Group consolidation and reporting would be highly desirable
  • Exposure to listed PLC reporting would be highly beneficial
  • Confidence communicating with finance and non-finance stakeholders across a large organisation
  • Experience with digital finance and reporting tools such as Workiva, SAP, BPC or Power BI would be advantageous
  • A proactive approach, with an interest in improving reporting, controls and finance processes

Experience within a complex, contract-led or outsourcing environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why Join?

This is a great opportunity to gain significant Group Finance and listed-company reporting exposure, with a particular focus on year-end reporting, Annual Report delivery and Group consolidation.

You’ll work closely with experienced finance professionals, senior stakeholders and external auditors, developing your technical accounting and reporting expertise while gaining a broad understanding of how Group Finance operates within a complex international business.

You’ll join a collaborative and technically strong team that values development, continuous improvement and innovation in reporting and finance processes.
