Group Treasurer, Serco
London / Hook

At Serco, we deliver essential public services across defence, transport, justice, immigration, healthcare and citizen services. We are a team of 50,000 people responsible for delivering services that matter to millions of people every day. Our work is complex, operationally demanding and often high-profile — but at its heart is a simple purpose: to impact a better future for the people and communities we serve.

We are currently searching for a Group Treasurer to lead Serco’s treasury function. Reporting to the Group Director of Finance, this is a senior Group Finance appointment with regular interaction with the Group CFO, divisional CFOs and senior leaders across Tax, Commercial, Corporate Development and Investor Relations.

This is a high-profile role at the centre of Serco’s financial strategy. You will lead the Group’s treasury activities, ensuring Serco has the funding, liquidity, risk management and financial resilience required to support its strategy and growth.

You will play a key role in shaping and managing Group funding arrangements, including bank lending, refinancing activity, asset finance, working capital facilities, guarantees, bonding and other funding solutions. You will advise senior leaders on capital structure, funding strategy and treasury risk, while ensuring the function operates with strong governance, efficiency and control.

You will also manage relationships with banks, advisors and rating agencies, support M&A and strategic projects, and work closely with Finance, Tax, Commercial, M&A, Investor Relations and the operating divisions to embed treasury considerations into key decisions.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading Serco’s global treasury function across funding, liquidity, risk management and treasury operations.
• Advising the Group Director of Finance, Group CFO and Board on capital structure, funding strategy and treasury risk.
• Managing Group funding requirements, including bank lending, refinancing, asset finance, working capital facilities, guarantees and bonding.
• Taking an active role in funding activity, working closely with banks, advisors and internal stakeholders.
• Leading liquidity management, cash pooling, investment activity, intra-group funding and efficient use of cash.
• Managing financial risk, including transactional currency exposure, interest rate risk and counterparty risk.
• Supporting M&A, disposals, restructurings, refinancing activity and ERP / TMS implementation.
• Advising commercial teams and divisions on guarantees, bonding, bid support and structured finance opportunities.
• Managing relationships with banks, advisors, rating agencies and other financial partners.
• Developing a high-performing treasury function with strong capability, governance and ways of working.

What you’ll need to do the job

• Significant treasury leadership experience within a listed, multinational or similarly complex organisation.
• Strong technical capability across funding, liquidity, financial risk management, capital structure, working capital and treasury operations.
• Experience managing funding activity, including bank lending, refinancing, facilities, guarantees, bonding and asset finance.
• Experience advising senior executives and Boards, with the ability to translate complex treasury matters into clear, practical recommendations.
• Credibility with banks, advisors, rating agencies, senior finance leaders and wider business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills across Finance, Tax, Commercial, M&A, Investor Relations and divisional leadership teams.
• Professional treasury qualification such as AMCT, accounting qualification, or equivalent professional experience.

What we offer

• A rare opportunity to lead the treasury function of a major listed international services business.
• A strong six figure base salary
• Significant bonus potential, on target 20%, with performance multipliers possible
• 10% contributory pension
• Company car or car allowance of £5,860
