Join Serco’s Finance Transformation and help build the engine of growth

Serco is transforming Finance to support its future growth, creating a UK-led Global Finance Services (GFS) Hub at the heart of the organisation. This hub is designed to be a true engine of growth - delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information while driving standardisation, efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity to join that transformation in a key leadership role, owning the end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) process for the UK Division and helping shape how Finance operates across a complex, contract-led organisation.

The role

As Reporting & Transformation Controller, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a consolidated reporting service to Business Unit Finance Directors, Finance Business Partners and operational stakeholders.

Aligned to a specific Business Unit, you will act as the key interlock between the horizontal Record-to-Report (R2R) processes within the GFS Hub and the vertical Business Unit view of financial performance - translating outputs into clear, accurate and insightful P&L, cashflow and balance sheet reporting.

This is a highly visible role, acting as a trusted partner and “face of the Hub” to the business. You will support Finance Directors in signing off month-end results with confidence, owning the integrity of outputs and challenging where necessary to ensure accuracy, consistency and control.

Beyond month-end, you will play a central role in driving transformation - identifying inefficiencies, improving processes and helping embed a best-in-class finance operating model across Serco’s UK business.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Act as a strategic partner to Finance Directors and Business Partners, providing assurance over the accuracy of reported results
  • Own the translation of R2R outputs into Business Unit-level reporting, including P&L, cashflow and balance sheet
  • Lead month-end “calibration” and act as a gatekeeper for Finance Director sign-off
  • Investigate complex accounting entries, operational drivers and material variances to ensure Trial Balance integrity
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Finance, operational and senior stakeholders
  • Identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting and finance processes
  • Act as the “voice of the customer” within the GFS Hub, influencing and shaping end-to-end process design
  • Partner with Global Process Owners and Finance leadership to standardise and enhance reporting outputs
  • Support the development of consistent, insight-driven reporting packs (e.g. BPR) and improved data accessibility
  • Work closely with offshore resources to deliver efficient, scalable reporting solutions

What you’ll need to do the role:

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent)
  • Has strong experience delivering financial reporting and analysis in a complex environment
  • Thrives in stakeholder-facing roles and is confident engaging with senior Finance and operational leaders
  • Has a strong control mindset, with a clear view of best practice processes and governance
  • Is naturally curious, with the ability to investigate, challenge and interpret financial and operational data
  • Has a passion for continuous improvement and driving transformation
  • Is comfortable working with ambiguity, incomplete data and evolving processes
  • Can balance operational delivery with strategic improvement initiatives

Essential experience & skills:

  • Proven experience delivering monthly reporting and insight to senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls and R2R processes
  • Experience working across complex, multi-contract or multi-entity environments
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical, scalable solutions
  • Strong commercial acumen, linking financial and non-financial performance drivers
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Demonstrates high levels of integrity, diligence and professional credibility

Why Serco:

You’ll be part of a high-profile Finance transformation, playing a hands-on role in shaping Finance processes, systems and culture across a truly global organisation. Working in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, you’ll gain standout experience delivering meaningful change while building strong foundations for long-term career opportunities across Serco.
