Join Serco’s Finance Transformation and help build the engine of growth

Serco is transforming Finance to support its future growth, creating a UK-led Global Finance Services (GFS) Hub at the heart of the organisation. This hub is designed to be a true engine of growth - delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information while driving standardisation, efficiency and continuous improvement across the business.

As part of this transformation, we’re expanding our Finance capability and are recruiting multiple Senior Financial Accountants to support delivery of the end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) process across Serco’s UK Division.

The role

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and controlled financial results across a complex, contract-led organisation. Working within the GFS Hub, you’ll support Finance Managers and work closely with offshore Financial Accountants to execute standardised R2R processes, prepare high-quality reporting and support insightful performance analysis.

You’ll bring strong process discipline, a solid understanding of service contracts, and the ability to link financial results to underlying revenue and cost drivers. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with operational colleagues to deliver accurate accounting and reporting.

We are hiring Senior Financial Accountants across the following areas:

  • Procured Services
  • Employee Costs
  • Intercompany & Recharges
  • Technical – Fixed Assets & Leases
  • Revenue & Billing
  • Technical – Revenue Recognition (IFRS 15)

While each role has a different technical focus, all roles operate to common standards within the Finance Hub and contribute to the wider Finance transformation and creating the new Finance operating model.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Support delivery of the month-end close across allocated cost and revenue streams
  • Execute standardised R2R processes and accounting tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare high-quality financial analysis and key reporting outputs
  • Support Finance Managers in reviews and customer reporting
  • Prepare and support review of balance sheet reconciliations in line with the Serco accounting manual
  • Support investigation and resolution of aged balance sheet items (WIP, debt, accruals, prepayments)
  • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and contribute to process improvement and automation
  • Work collaboratively with Finance Managers, Finance Business Partners and offshore teams to ensure standardisation, compliance and strong documentation

What you’ll need to do the role:

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent)
  • Has experience delivering accurate financial reporting on a regular cycle
  • Is process- and control-oriented, with a strong eye for detail
  • Understands how financial results link to operational and commercial drivers
  • Is highly collaborative and builds strong relationships across Finance and the business
  • Has a continuous improvement mindset and appetite to improve how things are done
  • Demonstrates diligence, integrity and professionalism

Essential experience & skills:

  • Strong understanding of R2R processes and balance sheet control
  • Experience working within standardised finance processes
  • Ability to identify and highlight inefficiencies in ways of working
  • Sound commercial acumen and analytical capability
  • Comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and contract streams

Why Serco:

You’ll be part of a high-profile Finance transformation, playing a hands-on role in shaping Finance processes, systems and culture across a truly global organisation. Working in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, you’ll gain standout experience delivering meaningful change while building strong foundations for long-term career opportunities across Serco.
