We're seeking a qualified and motivated Master <24 / Marine Engine Driver 1 NC to join our Defence Marine Support Services (DMSS) team. You'll be working across various inshore marine operations, contributing to the safe operation and maintenance of vessels under a long-term Commonwealth contract. Whether at sea or ashore, you’ll help deliver marine and engineering services that directly support Australia’s Defence capability.

As a Master <24 MED 1NC in the Inshore Operations team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Performing vessel operations in roles such as Master, Mate, Engine Driver or General-Purpose Hand
  • Managing and participating in onboard drills, exercises and seamanship tasks
  • Conducting marine engineering maintenance and operations to OEM specifications
  • Administering vessel logs, maintenance records and operational systems
  • Engaging with Defence clients, Serco contractors and other stakeholders
  • Supporting vessel training, induction and HSEQ compliance activities

  • AMSA Certificate of Competency as a Master <24m near coastal
  • Marine Engine Driver Grade1 near coastal qualification
  • Experience as a Master/Engineer on vessels of a similar size
  • Knowledge of marine operations, including crane and fueling services
  • Current First Aid Certificate and a valid driver’s license
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Understanding of Navy operating practices (desirable)
  • Eligibility to obtain Defence Baseline Security Clearance

 

The following would be an advantage to have:

  • Statement of Attainment in Safe Cargo Operations on Oil and Chemical Tankers
  • Statement of Attainment in Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • High Risk Licenses for Dogging, Crane, and Working in a Confined Space
  • Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
