About the role
As a Nurse Practitioner at Clarence Correctional Centre, you’ll play a key role in providing high-quality, person-centred care within our Primary Health team. This role combines clinical expertise, autonomy, and leadership to make a real impact on a complex and often vulnerable population.
What you’ll be doing

Deliver advanced, evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of people in custody

Conduct assessments, make diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and monitor outcomes

Apply strong clinical judgement and adaptability to respond confidently to changing situations
What you’ll bring

You’re a confident and experienced Nurse Practitioner who thrives on autonomy and collaboration

Strong critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and leadership skills
-
A solid understanding of the social and psychological factors that influence health outcomes in a correctional setting
Leadership and collaboration
You’ll provide leadership and mentorship to nursing colleagues, contribute to workforce development, and drive continuous quality improvement. Working closely with GPs, mental health and allied health professionals, and custodial staff, you’ll ensure coordinated, holistic care.
Above all, you’ll deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed, and respectful care that empowers patients and supports positive change.
This is a highly autonomous role, working 8 shifts per fortnight (9:00am–7:00pm).

Who you are
You are an endorsed Nurse Practitioner with:

A Master of Nursing Practice and NMBA endorsement for Nurse Practitioner
-
Strong clinical judgement, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities
-
Alignment with the NMBA Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice (2014)
-
The ability to work independently, mentor others, and manage complex care in a secure setting
-
Experience in acute, emergency, primary, remote, or correctional health (highly regarded)
-
Current Advanced Life Support and First Aid
