The key purpose of the Trade Instructor – Laundry is to deliver and evaluate a range of trade training programs for inmates focused on assisting inmates to integrate successfully into the community and gain post-release employment.

As a Trade Instructor – Laundry, you’ll make a positive impact by:

• Delivering and evaluating vocational training programs to inmates
• Supervising laundry operations while maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Promoting inmate participation in training and rehabilitation activities
• Conducting audits and ensuring equipment and tool control procedures are followed
• Managing inventory and reporting incidents, behaviour, and maintenance needs
• Supporting inmate reintegration through skill development and employment preparation

Imparting trade knowledge in a workshop environment while supervising day-to-day inmate activities. You will be confident implementing structured training programs that support skill development and employability, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, productivity and professional standards. You’ll build respectful, supportive relationships and contribute positively within a correctional environment.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• Certificate III in Laundry Operations or similar
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
• Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)
• Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in a commercial operations setting
• Sound understanding of WHS and tool/equipment safety protocols
• Ability to supervise and mentor inmates in a structured environment
